After the required football party, the major focus turned as always to the development of AP automation capabilities in corporate America. Google’s said to be building one in Ireland and spending more than $100 million. Apple’s rumored to be at work on one that’ll be a half-million square feet in size.
They’re not factories, of course, but data centers, those byte-filled behemoths that seem to be more in demand every year.
These days it’s cloud computing and all its promise that has focused even more attention on data centers and what they have to offer.
Customers needing enterprise content management want security, support, and expandability. Data centers can offer all three, and for a lower cost of entry than in-house systems.

Cloud computing is floating higher and higher as more businesses recognize that computing can be a service as well as a product.
So while the cloud used to be just a metaphor for the Internet, now the Internet is a delivery device for enterprise computing power available from remote locations.
“When it comes to enterprise content management in the cloud,” the Association for Information and Image Management reports, “many organizations are attracted by the ability to quickly deploy a wide range of document management and workflow applications.” [Read more…]
